Exciting news, bonobo supporters! Another bonobo conservation organization – The Bonobo Project – is merging with Friends of Bonobos. Together, we can have an even greater impact for bonobos and their rainforest habitat.

The Bonobo Project has worked hard to raise awareness for bonobos through outreach events and public education for the past seven years. The nonprofit was founded by one of our own board members, Ashley Stone. Since 2014, The Bonobo Project has had a huge impact on bonobo conservation and awareness, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them!
The Bonobo Project has hosted successful outreach and awareness events across the United States, trunk shows, and celebrations with celebrities such as Frans de Waal, Phil Gordon, Dikembe Mutombo, Shannon Elizabeth, and many more!

The Bonobo Project is also the reason we now celebrate World Bonobo Day on February 14th! Working with U.S. Rep. Scott Peters (D-San Diego), they led the U.S. House of Representatives to pass Resolution 738 to officially recognize World Bonobo Day on February 14th. It’s a day for everyone to participate in bonobo conservation and awareness activities. As TBP merges with us, we were grateful for all they’ve done.
Because of our supporters, we are growing and rapidly increasing awareness for bonobos. Merging with The Bonobo Project is the next step in expanding our network and increasing our impact for bonobos.
We’re grateful for all The Bonobo Project’s hard work to further bonobo conservation, and welcome Bonobo Project supporters to Friends of Bonobos!
