Give Crypto

Support Bonobos with Crypto!

We accept donations in Bitcoin, Ethereum and 100 more cryptocurrencies. When you donate crypto, we immediately convert your coins into fiat. Your gift funds critical bonobo conservation in the only country they are found – the DR Congo.

Why crypto?

A cryptocurrency donation is classified as a non-taxable event in the United States, meaning you do not owe capital gains tax on the appreciated amount and can deduct the donation from your taxes. This can make cryptocurrency donations one of the most tax-efficient ways to support bonobos.

With more than 500 million crypto users worldwide and the value of many cryptocurrencies rising, the crypto community is in a position to make a wide-reaching impact through philanthropy.

Crypto Giving FAQs

What about the environmental impact of cryptocurrencies?

As a great ape conservation organization we care about the environmental repercussions of everything we do, including our decision to accept crypto donations. The question of energy consumption in crypto mining is of utmost importance to us.  That’s why we’re proud that The Giving Block, our fundraising partner for cryptocurrencies, ensures each donation on the platform is carbon neutral by working with their partners at Climate Vault.

Is my crypto donation tax-deductible?

Yes!

Crypto donations are one of the most tax-efficient ways to give to charity. Your crypto donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law if you pay taxes in the U.S.  By making a charitable gift, you may also be eligible to significantly reduce what you would otherwise owe in capital gains taxes. Get more information about lowering your crypto taxes.

As with any tax-related question, please consult with a qualified, professional tax advisor to determine whether your donation is tax-deductible in whole or in part. Friends of Bonobos is unable to provide tax information or advice.

Which cryptocurrencies do you accept?

We currently accept more than 100 cryptocurrencies. If for any reason you do not see your currency on the list when you go to donate, please let us know and we can have it added.

Can I donate anonymously?

Absolutely. Through our donation form with The Giving Block donors can give anonymously and still receive a tax receipt for their records. That said, we love when you share your email address! We get to say “Thank You!” and provide you with updates on how your gift made an impact for bonobos.
