FRIENDS OF BONOBOS PRIVACY POLICY

Including SMS/Text Messaging Disclosures for Compliance
Last updated: October 2025

Thank you for visiting bonobos.org. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. Amendments to this policy will be posted at this URL and will be effective when posted.

INFORMATION COLLECTED

For each visitor to our website, our web servers may automatically recognize and collect non-personally identifiable information, such as referring URL, country, location, your computer’s IP address or operating system, the type of browser in use, and pages viewed. This data tells us which pages our users visit and allows us to improve visitor experience in the future. At no time is your IP address linked with anything that personally identifies the owner of the IP address.

We collect personally identifiable information about you only when you voluntarily submit such information to us—for example, by signing up for our newsletter, opting into SMS/text communications, or donating. Depending on the service you choose, the personally identifiable information collected may include your name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, payment details, organizational affiliation, and similar information (“Personal Information”).

When you donate online by credit card, you must submit your name, your credit card number, and billing information for verification purposes. This information allows us to process and fulfill your donation, to notify you of your donation status, or to associate your donation with a particular campaign. If you would like to donate anonymously, please indicate this when completing the donation form. The payment information you provide is transmitted and stored securely by our payment processors: GoFundMePro and Paypal, which adhere to industry-standard privacy protocols.

USE OF INFORMATION

Any Personal Information we collect is used only for internal review, to improve our communications and web content, to optimize your experience, and, in some cases, to customize the content or layout of select pages.

In general, we will only use Personal Information you provide for the purpose for which it was provided, for example:

  • To periodically alert you via email or SMS to Friends of Bonobos news and events
  • To respond to inquiries
  • To process donations
  • To send updates, reminders, or acknowledgments

If you sign up for our mailing list or SMS/text updates, you may receive messages that include news, updates, and donation opportunities. You can unsubscribe or opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply. For help, reply HELP or contact [email protected].

Friends of Bonobos uses trusted communications platforms (such as Zoom) to send approved text messages to individuals who have opted in or otherwise provided their phone number to us. Messages are used for donor relations, updates, and other legitimate organizational communications.

Mobile Information and Text Messaging
Friends of Bonobos does not share, sell, rent, or otherwise disclose mobile phone numbers or text messaging consent with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All categories of personal information collected exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Our website is hosted on the Kinsta platform. Your data may be stored through Kinsta’s data storage, databases, and the general Kinsta applications. Kinsta stores your data on secure servers behind a firewall.

We do not share your Personal Information with any third parties without your consent, except under the following circumstances:
(i) as set forth above,
(ii) in response to a subpoena or when we are required to do so by law,
(iii) in response to a law enforcement agency’s request,
(iv) to protect the security or confidentiality of our records,
(v) in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with our rights, or
(vi) in the event Friends of Bonobos goes through a reorganization (e.g., a merger into another organization), in which case you will be notified via a prominent notice on the website of any such transfer of your Personal Information.
