Qualified Charitable Distribution

If you’re 70 ½ or older, you can donate to Friends of Bonobos directly from your IRA.

Benefits to giving qualified charitable distribution

  • Tax-Free Distribution: The donation is not taxable, and it counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution for the year. This helps reduce your taxable income.
  • Up to $100,000 Per Year: You can donate up to $100,000 per year to charity from your IRA. If you’re married and file jointly, your spouse can also give up to $100,000, so the total can be up to $200,000.

Stock

Donating stocks, bonds and mutual funds is an impactful and easy way to save bonobos and reduce your taxes.

Benefits to giving stock:

  • You can avoid paying capital gains tax and may also be eligible for a charitable income tax deduction.
  • You will have an immediate impact on the lives of the bonobos at Lola ya Bonobo Sanctuary. You will also ensure the protection of rewilded bonobos and their habitat at Ekolo ya Bonobo Community Reserve.
  • Please contact [email protected] to let us know when you make a gift to Friends of Bonobos via your broker as we do not always receive information that identifies you as the donor.
